KBC Sponsors Annual Regional Science Bowl

Since 2023, KBC has proudly sponsored the West Virginia Regional Science Bowl and the Western Pennsylvania Regional Science Bowl hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Energy Technology Laboratory.

The Science Bowl is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. Teams of middle and high school students face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, where they are tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics, energy, and math.

DOE created the Science Bowl in 1991 to encourage students to excel in mathematics and science and to pursue careers in these fields. More than 344,000 students have participated in the Science Bowl throughout its 34-year history, and it is one of the nation’s largest science competitions.

Morgantown KBC Earth Day Event

For the second year in a row, the KBC Energy Solutions team had the pleasure of sponsoring the annual Earth Day Assembly with the 4th grade class at Eastwood Elementary School in Morgantown, WV.

As part of the tradition, students submitted Earth Day-themed drawings for a friendly art contest. The winning design, created by Jiovanni Douglas, was printed on shirts given to every 4th grader and teacher, along with a white dogwood sapling to plant and grow. Jiovanni also received a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card for their outstanding artwork!

This marks the 13th year of the event at Eastwood, originally sponsored by KeyLogic for 11 years, and now proudly continued by KBC Energy Solutions, a joint venture between BCS Allegient and KeyLogic.

Special thanks to our KBC team members Sean Sikora, Kenneth Green, PMP, Ginger Carte, and Madison Baird for representing us at the event and helping inspire future environmental stewards.

Happy Earth Day! 🌳💚

Earth Day Clean-Up Events

Earth Day Clean-Up Events

KBC participated in Earth Day clean-up events across various locations, including Las Cruces, New Mexico; Pittsburgh, PA; Morgantown, WV; and Washington, DC

The volunteers focused on planting flowers and mulching, while others ventured deeper into the park to restore an area historically designated for Black visitors during the segregation era. Our efforts included cutting brush, cleaning and staining benches, and clearing and disposing of cut brush and logs by returning them to nature. Additionally, we picked up over 400 bags of trash.

Thank you to all the volunteers who made these events successful and contributed to making our parks cleaner and more beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
